C2PA is a group. It makes rules for Content Provenance. The rules show how to save a Provenance Record in a file. They show how to add a digital seal, list changes and source files, and check the record.
2. What does CAWG do?
CAWG is a group for creators. Its rules help a person or group prove its name in Content Provenance. A checker must test the proof before it calls the name verified.
3. What does IPTC do?
IPTC is a news and media group. It keeps shared labels. Some are "AI-created," "Camera-captured," and "Edited with AI." Shared words help tools show the same thing.
4. How do they work together?
- IPTC gives a tool a clear label for how media was made.
- CAWG can add proof about the person or group named in the record.
- C2PA puts the facts in a Provenance Record. It guards the record with a seal.
- A checker reads the record. It tests the seal and shows the result.
5. Are these companies?
No. They are groups that make rules. Many firms and other groups help write or use the rules. Encypher runs this checker. C2PA, CAWG, and IPTC do not run it.
Why open rules help: A file can move from one tool to the next. A record works best when many tools can write and read it.
